About Us

Chips in the Middle has been launched primarily as a Pot Limit Omaha High strategy discussion.  It's author is a low limit online player.  If you are looking for advice from a poker guru, you are in the wrong place.  If you prefer to read the advice of a noted poker authority then I suggest you try www.notedpokerauthority.com or google any well known pro or author of your choice.

Right at the minute, Chips in the Middle features strategy articles on pot limit omaha and you may wonder why you would take such advice seriously.  And so you should wonder.  I want to be very clear about this from the start.  I am not offering strategy advice via this site.  What I outline in the strategy articles on the site is (to the best of my ability) researched from as wide a reading base as I can find and confirmed by my own limited experience of the game.  What I am trying to outline is the fundamentals of the game which can then be applied (or diverged from) in order to achieve success in particular games and conditions.

I do not see the content of Chips in the Middle as advice on how to play pot limit omaha.  Rather I see it as the opening stage in what I hope will be a strategy discussion.  While I make every effort to ensure that anything I put down in the strategy articles is accurate and easily understood, the articles remain open to correction and development over time.  If you disagree with anything you read here, feel free to comment in the thread attached to the bottom of each article.  If you are looking for a step by step, "how to" guide to killing pot limit omaha, you are also in the wrong place.  It doesn't work like that.

What little I know about poker has come a little at a time through many hours of play and many hours of reading which have occassionally revealed important concepts.  I read someone say once that if, when he read a book, he learned one important lesson from it then it was worth the investment.  That has certainly been my experience.  That sometimes reading about or discussing poker has caused a key concept to finally click in my mind and I finally understand something that I'd been hearing for years.  I am in no way the complete player of this game and if you want to see just how far from complete my game is, then take a look at the blog.

What I have found since I discovered Pot Limit Omaha is a fantastic game that just isn't talked about enough.  This site is intended to contribute to that discussion.  In the future, I would like very much to incorporate articles by others and perhaps to extend the content of Chips in the Middle to cover other poker variants.  The obvious next step would be Omaha 8 or better.  We'll see how it goes.
