How are things?
Thursday, January 31st, 2008
Well, with January coming to a close it’s perhaps time to reflect on how the month has gone. The bankroll is in a nice healthy state at €586 (roughly $880). My cash game pot limit omaha play is up $240.18 over the month which is a win rate of 13.43 ptBB/100. […]
Why I Shouldn’t be a Donkey
Tuesday, January 29th, 2008
I act like a donkey when I’m in a bad mood, have got upset about something, am losing etc. Generally speaking, when I’m on tilt. For whatever reason is at play this time, I basically get way too involved in the notion that I have to win this particular pot. These two hands are from early on in the next morning’s session and I’m posting to remind me and anyone else who’s interested why I shouldn’t be a donkey. […]
Why I’m a Donkey

Here’s a little bit of hand history action from yesterday just to highlight why I’m a donkey […]
Bankroll Update
Monday, January 21st, 2008
Well. I started slow with the play this month but have been able to put some hands in lately. I thought I would post a quick update on the bankroll […]
Starting Hands in Pot Limit Omaha
Monday, January 14th, 2008
I’m in the process of writing the third article for the site on starting hands. It should have been done at the end of last week but it’s taking some time to organise in my head. I need to figure out how to get something useful down on paper without it getting ridiculously long.
Anyway, I have starting hands on my mind at the moment and I guess I’ll post a hand history that kind of illustrates a point. The first two articles on starting hands (here and here) consider some of the issues surrounding starting hand selection in pot limit omaha high. Most people are probably aware that Omaha is a game where many hands look playable and indeed, often are playable. So, I’m posting this hand to illustrate some of the benefits of going into a contest with better starting hands. […]
Some little progress
Friday, January 11th, 2008
Got a couple of sessions in yesterday and was up nearly a buyin for the day so January is off to a reasonable start results wise. It’s not what the month is supposed to be about but it’s always nicer to start with a couple of winning sessions so I’m not complaining. […]
Setting the scene
Wednesday, January 9th, 2008
So with January started and a new blog I suppose it’s time to set the scene and perhaps set out some goals for the month. […]
An unintended break
Wednesday, January 9th, 2008
Well, it looks like poker this year has got off to a surprisingly slow start. I took a couple of days break at the start of the month because my last day in December was bad and I figured a short absense would do some good. Since then work and external commitments have got in the way. […]
Welcome and Happy New Year
Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008
Well. It’s a New Year and finally time to launch the blog.
This blog will probably be a poker journal of sorts, detailing my woes with Pot Limit Omaha. I’m going to try to stay clear of endless lists of hands for people to read cause my eyes glaze over when I come to too many of those. I’m going to try to focus more on the challenges that I face, namely patience and discipline. […]
